Company launches Marilyn Monroe holiday
August 2012 is the 50th anniversary of the death of film icon, Marilyn Monroe and to mark the occasion, travel company Bon Voyage has created a special holiday itinerary that sees guests travelling in the style of the screen idol.
During the 10-night fly-drive holiday, travelers will visit Los Angeles, San Diego, Palm Springs and San Francisco, taking in significant places connected with the star of movies such as Some Like it Hot, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and the Seven Year Itch, where she was seen in the iconic pose laughing while her skirt was blown up behind her.
Highlights of the trip include visiting Marilyn Monroe’s home in Brentwood and the Rainbow Bar and Grill (formerly the Villa Nova Restaurant) where she met her husband, Joe DiMaggio. Visitors will also get to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame where they can see the ‘Blond Bomshell’s’ handprints and the Westwoood Memorial Park where she is buried.
Guests will also visit San Diego at spend two nights at the Del Coronado Hotel where Marilyn filmed Some Like it Hot, before continuing to Palm Springs where her fame began when she was discovered at Charlie Farrell’s Racquet Club.
The trip concludes with a trip to San Francisco to see the place where Marilyn and Joe DiMaggio married in the city’s Town Hall in 1954.
