Beyoncé’s daughter named honorary citizen of Hvar in Croatia
The Croatian city of Hvar has decided to name Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, an honorary citizen.
Mayor of Hvar, Pjerino Bebic bestowed the honour on baby Blue Ivy, following claims that she was named after a tree that Beyoncé saw while there on holiday last year.
Croatian media have recently broadcast a video which shows the singer posing next to a tree wrapped in blue ivy, which she shot on her visit to the city last summer. They claim that this could be the inspiration for her daughter’s name.
In a letter to the famous music couple Pjerino Bebic said, “The story of the origin of your girl’s name, Blue Ivy, has brought huge media attention and great tourism promotion to the town of Hvar and I have decided to grant her the status of honorary citizen of the town”.
Mayor Pjerino has also invited the family to visit Hvar which enjoys 320 days of sunshine a year, making it one of the sunniest places in the country.
Beyoncé gave birth to baby Blue Ivy Carter six months ago.
