Quirky luxury hotels - Sherwood Forest eco-cabins

Tuesday, 28 February 2012 12:36 PM

Yesterday saw the opening of Forest Holidays new luxury eco-cabins in Nottinghamshire’s most legendary spot. These cabins are not your usual basic rustic cabins, these are über luxurious retreats nestled in 3,300 acres of prime woodland. Each cabin blends into the forest floor and the trees surrounding it, and invites you to claim your own slice of nature.
The cabins’ spacious interior and floor-to-ceiling glass walls, create a real woodland experience, bringing nature inside and providing incredible views across the forest. All of the cabins are built with the environment in mind, and work in harmony with the unique woodland environment. Each is built using low-cost heating systems, gutters that allow water to flow back into the forest and low impact piling to reduce the effect on tree roots and other existing infrastructure below ground.

Staying here is woodland luxury at its best, with stylish interiors, private outdoor hot tubs, cosy log burners, flatscreen TVs and state-of-the-art AV systems with internet access. There are three styles of cabin to choose from, Copper Beech, which is cosy, relaxing and provides great value; Silver Birch, an elegant retreat with cosy master bedroom and private hot tub; and Golden Oak, the ultimate in luxury forest living, including log-burning stove, private hot tub, and Wii games console.

Some of the cabins even come with treehouse extensions, so that you can have a romantic space up in the treetops or send the kids off on their own Robin Hood adventure up in canopy. If it’s a romantic retreat you’re after, you can also request your own personal chef, who will prepare, cook and serve a fantastic three-course meal, from a choice of menus, in your cabin kitchen and give you lots of cooking tips in between.

Guests can enjoy the great outdoors, taking unique nature trips with our Forest Rangers - including the popular night vision walk – or can even try their hand at on-site archery, Robin Hood style. Sherwood Forest is also perfect for outdoor exploring, with miles of trails for cycling and walking. For adventure-seekers, there are many activities to choose from, from pony trekking and kayaking, to caving, and orienteering.

This is truly a unique place to stay that provides all the luxury with all the adventure too.
