Top destinations for a romantic cruise

Friday, 27 January 2012 12:20 PM

Going on cruise holidays is one of the most romantic breaks you can take with a loved one. Spending long hours at sea admiring the views, dining over a candlelit supper before dancing beneath the stars, this is what togetherness should always be like.

However, which destinations are the best places to lookout for last minute deals to? Here are just a few suggestions.

The Caribbean

This destination is without a doubt one of the most beautiful locations in the world and a cruise here is the stuff that dreams are made of.

You and your loved one will be able to sail around the glistening azure waters, and when your ship drops anchor you will have the opportunity to come ashore and discover some of the paradise islands that pepper the sea.

St Maarten and St Kitts could be two of the places you take a trip to and you will be astounded by the mesmerising views here.

Take a stroll along the golden beaches and feel the sand beneath your toes, before taking a break from topping up your tan to sample some of the Caribbean cuisine being sold nearby.

Scandinavia

While cruises often conjure images of sun, sea and sand to mind, there are some other destinations that - while not as hot - are definitely worthy of your attention.

One of these is Scandinavia and here you can cruise around the northern European coastlines, stopping off at cultural points of interest on your way.

Just some of the amazing cities you will have chance to visit are Gothenburg and Stockholm in Sweden, Tallinn in Estonia, Helsinki in Finland and Copenhagen in Denmark.

These historic settlements will really help you to get under the skin of Scandinavia, while you will also be able to enjoy the calm beauty of the scenery here.

Iceland

Again, Iceland may not immediately spring to mind as the destination for a romantic cruise, but the island is one of the most beautiful on the planet.

Home to huge glaciers, steaming thermal pools and exciting geysers, here it will feel as though you are in another world.

Iceland could be one of your stops on a tour past Russia, which is another fascinating place to visit.

As you and your partner snuggle up together on deck to watch these destinations go by, you may find you have never felt more in love.
