Singapore’s Changi Airport are offering excellent deals on traditional favourites which will make ideal gifts for those loved ones left behind when you jetted off.
They are cutting prices by as much as 93 per cent on such delicacies as Eu Yan Sang Bottled Bird's Nest with Rock Sugar and 90 per cent off and Begawan Solo Mooncakes.
Bird’s Nest is one of the world’s top 10 luxury food items, the most expensive example can cost more than $10,000 per kg but travellers can enjoy it for just $3.
The airport, which was voted the best airport for shopping, recorded that chocolate was the most popular gift purchased, with 4.5 million boxes sold in 2010, while other popular gifts included Nonya dumplings and Kueh Lapis cakes.
Americans buy the most airport gifts with 31 per cent buying chocolate and candles, compared to 12 per cent of Indians.
The fabulous Friday deal sees one best-selling item up for grabs for just $3, for any travellers who make a minimum purchase of S$30 using their Visa cards or S$60 by other means.
