Copenhagen is to celebrate its Nordic culinary heritage during its Copenhagen Cooking festival which will be held from August 24 to September 2.

The festival will be a tribute to Danish and Nordic cuisine and will feature head chef René Redzepi from Noma, which was ranked as the Best Restaurant in the World.

During the festival’s opening ceremony René Redzepi will be awarded the ‘Copenhagen Ambassador Honorary Award’ for his extraordinary contribution to Nordic cuisine. HRH Princess Marie who is an advocator of Danish cooking will also attend the ceremony on August 24.

The festival is sponsored by Copenhagen based travel site Momondo who has recently published a book called Copenhagen from Noma + Momondo, where the staff from the world’s best restaurant share their favourite places to visit in the city.

“Momondo and Copenhagen Cooking fit each other perfectly. We are both from Copenhagen and have a huge interest in the Nordic region and its vibrant gastronomic scene. Copenhagen Cooking will showcase the best of the Nordic kitchen and the Copenhagen restaurant scene”, says Maria Kristensen Bech, Head of Copenhagen Cooking.
