When people think of a trekking holiday in Nepal, they could be forgiven for thinking it would not offer much in the way of luxury, but don't let that fool you - the country has lots to offer those who want to enjoy a quality trip, especially the Gokyo Lakes.

About the Gokyo Lakes

The climb

The glacier is the highest body of ice of its kind in the world and is the final part of the trail that leads to the Everest Base Camp area - a starting spot for most expeditions up Mount Everest.

Having taken in the sights, it is time to double back to the Imja Kola River Valley before moving on to Dzonglha and the Cho La Pass.

While this is a challenging trek, there are several places to stop off along the way and your reward for overcoming the pass is that you will have almost arrived at the Gokyo Lakes.

The lakes themselves are a sight to behold, with beautiful turquoise waters and fantastic views of the mountain landscapes.
