Luxury reborn in Istanbul - Marmara Taksim Hotel

Thursday, 29 September 2011 8:21 AM

Following an extensive and ambitious renovation, the luxurious 5-Star Marmara Taksim Hotel has opened its doors to welcome guests. Situated in the vibrant heart of Istanbul, overlooking the lively Taksim Square, the hotel provides the perfect base from which to explore the city which has been named ‘worlds hippest’ by Lonely Planet and the international fashion and design press.

The creative force behind the renovation of the Mamara Taksim is the visionary interior designer Dan Kwan, whose aim was to give a contemporary touch to this traditional city landmark. Interior spaces have been adorned in rich browns and reds with elegant touches of gold giving the hotel a modern feel with inspiration from traditional Turkish designs.

Local artists have also added their own influence by producing pieces for the hotel which reflect the theme of music. The centre piece of the hotel is a revolving glass sculpture inspired by the traditional whirling dervish dances.

This deluxe hotel offers some fine international and Turkish dining in its two restaurants - the Marmara Tuti and the Panorama Restaurant. The sleek and modern Marmara Tuti serves breakfasts, lunches and snacks, while the elegant Panorama offers a traditional Turkish affair affording spectacular views over the city, Golden Horn and Bosphorus. To lap up even more of the stunning city scenery try a delicious cocktail at the Tepe Lounge with its floor-to-ceiling windows, and for relaxation, chill out at the stylish yet cosy Tuti Bar with its comfy leather and gold armchairs.

Rooms are spacious, with a feel of modern elegance in tones of cream and blues, with wide panoramic windows. And no luxury Turkish hotel could be complete without a traditional Turkish bath, a place to unwind after a long day sightseeing and shopping in Taksim Sqaure. Prepare to be pampered in true Turkish style in these authentic baths, offering a sauna, jacuzzi, massages and Turkish cloth-bag rubbing treatments, designed to improve the circulation. Other facilities include a roof top pool and fully equipped gym.

The newly designed Marmara Taksim truly is a lavish sanctuary in the city and an integral part of Istanbul, combining contemporary and classic designs.
