City breaks popular for Valentine's
It seems like romantic Brits are planning an escape to some of Europe’s most popular cities this February, as Jet2holidays reports a surge in bookings for the Valentine’s period.
The package holiday specialist has seen a 45 per cent increase in February breaks compared with the same period in 2010.
As Valentine’s Day 2011 falls on a Monday, many British couples are making the most of it this year and jetting off for a weekend break.
Jet2holidays managing director Steve Heapy said, ‘Since the New Year, we have seen a surge in bookings for both city breaks and winter sun departing around Valentine’s Day, up 45 per cent on 2010.’
Romantic city hotspots such as Paris and Prague are high on the list of the favourite places to celebrate Valentine’s Day. But the winter sun destination of Tenerife has also proven to be popular with romantic couples this year.
The surge in February breaks could indicate that people escape the cold UK weather, or perhaps Brits are simply getting more amorous.
