Paxos is small in size but big on leisure
The Greek island of Paxos may be little more than an olive-covered dot in the Ionian Sea on a map but it has an awful lot to offer holidaymakers this summer.
It is accessible via an hour’s boat ride from Corfu, and still retains a lot of original Greek charm, with many areas virtually untouched by tourists. Only in peak season do the tavernas in Loggos, Lakka and Gaios, the three coastal villages, begin to fill up.
Rent a villa in the picturesque little village of Loggos on Paxos’s northeast coast and you can enjoy a fabulously rustic pace of life. Travel a la carte rent a number of villas in the area.
Villa Aglaia is situated in a superb hillside position just a few minutes' walk from the village and sleeps up to four. It costs from £590 per week, off peak. Or opt for The Manor House, an imposing old building overlooking the bay of Loggos, sleeping up to six adults, priced from £825 per week
Planos Holidays also offer an extensive selection of accommodation on Paxos, ranging from villas with private pools for couples, families or groups to village and waterside apartments and traditional country houses.
For two couples travelling together, who wish to have their own space, the adjoining Lina Studios in Lakka are the ideal solution. With prices ranging from £525 per person in May, rising to £595 each in August, the air-conditioned accommodation is well situated to allow guests easy access to the tavernas and restaurants, and features balconies and a shared terrace with views of Lakka Bay.
