People want property abroad

Overseas property is becoming increasingly popular with Brits looking for a second home, according to a UK property portal.

With interest in foreign property soaring, Rightmove.co.uk highlights France as one of the most searched for destinations.

Easily accessible by land, sea and air from the UK, France has long been s a firm favourite of the UK property buyer. With some beautiful coastlines and charming villages, France is a great destination for relaxation and exploring the countryside. In addition, Wall Street Journal is predicting France to be one of the top three investment destinations for 2011.

Robin Barrasford, Managing Director of developers and agents Barrasford & Bird Worldwide said, ‘This year is shaping up to be an interesting year in the overseas property industry with many closer-to-home destinations proving popular as customers look to invest, but do so in countries they can easily visit, enjoy for themselves and still benefit from great returns.’

Compared to the month of January, interest in purchasing property on foreign shores soared in February 2011, according to Rightmove.co.uk.
